Another week of lab has just passed. I think I am very bad with laboratory safety issues. I spill diffent chemical substances on my hands every week. We used some hexane/toluene mixture which I accidentally spilt on my hands. It seemingly seeped in so fast into my skin that I had no time to wash it off. The best thing is that its toxic. Huimin, you must remember to wear gloves next time, or else your hands will be pretty much gone-case by the time you finished lab this semester. I had my viva this week too. It turned out to be pretty fun though I was very scared before that.
Sociology tutorial was interesting today. We did this experiment which tested the boundaries of social norms but yet did not break any laws. My group decided to eavesdrop on the conversations of people sitting in the canteen and then abruptly join in their conversations even if we did not know them. Some of their reactions were pretty funny. One of our targets turned out to be sociology professors. Oops! And on closer look, one of them was my professor for sociology of work! At the end of our conversation with them, we explained that it was a sociological experiment and hope that they were not angry with us for abruptly intruding into their conversations. The professor of social theory told us that its ok and said that our experiment was too mild to be considered breaking a social norm. He told us to try spilling some soup on people and nonchalently just walk off without apologizing. Haha...
I am flooded with tests and assignments. *screams for help* But its good in a way cos it leaves you no time to think about other stuff.

Something seeped, INTO your hand? That sounds horribly dangerous, should get it checked out man.
It felt like it. I got a little worried so i checked it up online. It seems that that toluene is only toxic when inhaled as it causes nerve damage. That doesn't help much though. Cos we ALL inhaled lots of it during lab that time. Haha...
