Back from my holiday! I am glad yet sad to be back in Singapore.
In Jordan, we went to Pedra, one of the new 7 wonders of the world. This was the Siq road in Pedra. It is very amazing road as an earthquake had caused the mountain to split into two thousands of years ago, creating a path that was 1.2km in length through the mountain. A treasury carved out of the mountains 2000 years ago without the help of modern technology.
My parents on a donkey!
Israel was an interesting place. Its the only country I know where their entire city including their public transport system shut down every Saturday, which is the Sabbath for the Jewish people. I think girls there go for national service too. And all the army guys and girls were allowed to carry their guns around the country. It was rather cute to see them carry their gun everywhere they go, even to the toilet. Though I suppose they can't excatly leave them lying around.
We were in Jerusalem. We went to the old city of Jerusalem, that existed since Jesus Christ's time. I learnt something interesting. Jesus Christ is a Jew. It was enlightening to visit the places where Virgin Mary was born and where she went to eternal sleep, to visit the very places that Jesus Christ was crucified and where he resurrected according to the bible. We wanted to visit Bethlehem, where Jesus was borned but did not dare to as it is now a Palestinian-controlled area and we thought it was rather dangerous to do so.
I was sad when I had to tell the custom officer not to stamp on my passport on entry to Israel and on leaving Israel. My father was scared that Malaysia and other Islamic countries would not allow us to enter their countries if they saw that we've been to Israel. I don't buy souvenirs when I visit countries as I know they will just be white elephants collecting dust in my room. But I do like to see the stamps on my passport as souvenirs of the countries that I have visited.
Where am I? I am floating on the dead sea! One day, I am going back there in summer for a week and just float on the dead sea all day long reading a book. Haha...

The dead sea is so saturated with salt that the rocks were all covered with salt.
It snowed in Turkey! I have seen snow before but have never seen it snowing before. If you are wondering why I was carrying an umbrella, it was my parents who were carrying the umbrella and I just took a photo with the snow-covered umbrella. My dear parents unfortunately, were not so delighted with it snowing as me. And so they carried the umbrella to shield themselves from the falling snow. Haha...

More snow! It was a beautiful sight, to see the landscape turning white before my very eyes with the falling show. It was as though, the Earth was undergoing a great cleansing and was as pure as it was a long time ago.
And even more snow! I stood outside in the snow for a long time just watching it snow. The locals thought I was nuts to stand outside in the cold, just looking up to the sky and foolishly smiling happily to myself.

Turkey, Israel and Jordan, they all have something that Singapore lack, a real history that stretches back thousands of years ago. Perhaps this is what I feel has always been missing in Singapore. But then, what is history except that the start of history marks the beginning of human occupancy of the land. So perhaps, its better not to have a history at all cos I still feel that this world will be perfect without humans.
