I am in Turkey now. I always had the misconception that turkey was a hot, desert-like and sandy place similar to Egypt. But I am so wrong. It is freezing cold cos its winter now. I regret not bringing my scarve and gloves as I thought the temperature would not fall below 10 degrees. Turkey has been amazing, a mix between the east and west. It is a very wealthy nation, richer than Singapore even. It was great to visit places I had studied about, the spice bazaars and the grand bazaar that are famous in Istanbul.

Going to visit this place called 'Cappadocia', a place I studied bout in 'sociology of tourism' where the concept of liminality was applied to it. Its a rather interesting place where people live in caves, or rather homes dug out of the clayey soil of the mountains and hills there. Isn't it an amazing idea? To dig a room out of the mountain when u need more space? Certainly would have been useful in Singapore. I think its a great idea though, to live in a way that co-exist with the natural enironment. Where the landscape permits us to make homes out of it.
